Poll #27533 2023 Same Song Project
Open to: Registered Users, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 8
Should we host another Same Song Project in 2023?
If we had another Same Song Project - what song would you recommend?
FYI - Same Song Project: 2020 (tag)
While BINGO rounds never truly end, refreshing them every so often doesn't seem like a bad idea. The community anniversary (JANURY 30-ish) is a good target and aligns with last time.
So that means you have some warning and plenty of time to finish your Round 2 cards! :D
Check in here when you have a BINGO!
Please take a moment to review the Round 2 Prompt List and offer suggestions (additions/removals) for Round 3.
What else has been going on? How is vidding going for you?

Date: 2022-09-16 06:00 am (UTC)General question, particularly for Windows users: What program(s) do you use to handle clipping? Or just how do you do it in general?
I've been using VLC media player's record button but a lot of my clips have been coming out pixelated or otherwise damaged, which has been incredibly discouraging. At first I blamed my old laptop's failing hard drive, but it's happening on my new computer too, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Right now I'm trying to use DaVinci Resolve and rendering individual clips, but it's taking significantly more time and I don't yet know if they're coming out any better.

Date: 2022-09-16 05:14 pm (UTC)I add all the source I'm working with to my editing program (Sony Movie Studio), make subclips from the source within the program, and work with those sections.
I don't think rerendering is involved, but I could be wrong. I think you might be able to do something similar within DVR?

Date: 2022-09-17 04:32 am (UTC)DVR does have a 'cut' page that I usually skip over, I might play around with that.
Thanks for the info!

Date: 2022-09-16 09:35 pm (UTC)I do have a source prep process that I can make clips as part of, but generally all I do is trim credits there (I basically follow the process at https://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech31/, which is very old and based on the idea you will be ripping your own source!)

Date: 2022-09-17 04:46 am (UTC)I once tried loading full episodes/movies into my editor during an early attempt at learning to vid, but the system couldn't handle that much content. I have a better laptop and software now, so I might have to give it a try again.
Is ripping from DVDs considered out of date already? Because that's how I've gotten all my sources so far...no subject
Date: 2022-09-17 05:01 am (UTC)I do still rip most of my source, but I know a lot of people don't :D And more and more often now things don't even get released on DVD ... ;;

Date: 2022-09-18 06:42 am (UTC)I suppose DVDs will eventually go the way of VHSs, but I'll never really be a fan of the content-as-a-service entertainment model.

Date: 2022-09-17 08:48 pm (UTC)I tried vidding once without clipping and while technically I made a vid, I wasn't a fan of the process.

Date: 2022-09-18 06:38 am (UTC)I don't think I would enjoy vidding without clipping either, the couple of times I've had to go back for footage that wasn't in my immediate pool were very annoying, and I find clipping makes it easier to earmark short scenes that I might forget about just scanning through a 2+ hour movie.
