Vidding chatter

Hello vidders!!
Welcome to the monthly(-ish) chatter post (sorry for missing last month!). Feel free to talk about any vidding topic at all, it doesn't need to be related to your bingo card - although it can be!

Where are the areas in which you've found vidding community? (ie. DW, YouTube, tumblr, cons, etc.)
How and where do you share your vids and where do you look for vids to watch?

I'm personally feeling very energized about vidding post-VidUKon and its great community! I've enjoyed getting glimpses of cons I otherwise would likely be unable to attend this year, even if I obviously miss in-person fannish gatherings too.

I may have opened up FCP and now have a draft of a Sabine vid because of it. :D :D

DW and cons, mostly. And Discord - although I think I found the vidding related channels there via the former.

I upload my vids on YouTube, Vimeo, or CriticalCommons (most are on YouTube), and make vid posts on AO3 and DW (and usually tumblr and twitter as well).

It varies - AO3, vidders' announcement posts, recs on DW, tumblr, twitter, etc., sometimes by searching on YouTube.


I'm still (slowly) plugging away at my Disco vid (it was neat seeing people go 'I should watch/catch up with Discovery' at VidUKon), as well as looking for sources for a potential multifandom vid. And trying not to get distracted by my Word of Honor idea until I finish my Disco vid.

I'm also torn between a Rebels vid I just drafted and a multifandom vid for vexercises (I've not done any of the vexercises yet because I'm irrationally stuck on wanting to do them in order - I'm trying to abandon that and just jump in).
I also have vids that NEED TO BE MADE in The Expanse and Enterprise, but I don't have the source clipped and am Queen of Procrastination on them. Woe.

My latest dumb vidding project is trying to make vids for all the Hugo Finalists for Best Dramatic Presentation: Long Form. It's going okay so far! I premiered a Birds of Prey vid at Wiscon and a Eurovision vid at Vidukon and will premiere a Soul vid at Con.txt. I just need to make vids for TENET, The Old Guard, and Palm Springs. The problem is I don't have strong vidding feelings about Tenet, but why should I let that stop me?

I haven't seen Tenet, but I'm pretty sure 'Odds Are' by Barenaked Ladies would fit nicely - if you were searching for a song.

What a fun endeavor! I love a themed project and your first two vids in the series were super enjoyable. (Though I too would have trouble coming up with a Tenet vid — I just don't really click with Christopher Nolan movies.)

Lately most of my vid watching has been on Ao3 and off of various rec lists, I used to trawl Youtube pretty regularly (in the late '00s, for the most part), but I fell out of that habit. I've been to Wiscon's vid party a couple of times and also a few panels on vidding there that were fun. I'm still just dipping my toes into the creator side of things.

Unrelated to the above questions, does anyone here do any facet of vidding on mobile? My laptop died and I'm waiting until back-to-school sales start to replace it but am trying to figure out a way to at least clip from my tablet. Anyone know any good Android apps?

Oh.... interesting question. I have never clipped on anything other than a Mac.
