Hello vidders!!
Welcome to the monthly(-ish) chatter post. Feel free to talk about any vidding topic at all, it doesn't need to be related to your bingo card - although it can be!

What's going on with you?
What are you vidding?

[community profile] vexercises has just started up another round. I didn't participate last year (because...2020) but it seemed to be fun for those that did. The first exercise (vexercise?) has been posted.
And bonus! - any vids you create would be eligible for your bingo card - assuming they fit your bingo prompt.
Did anyone participate last year? What was your experience?

Reminder that Round 2 is open and there's full amnesty for Round 1 at any time.

I'm finally making some progress on a vid for my "science" square! I'm pleased with that, because I'm completely stalled out on the other two vids I'm working on (for one, I finished the part with lyrics months ago but can't seem to make myself work on all the instrumental breaks, and for the other I just keep running into issues converting source to mp4).

What are you using to convert your source? Perhaps someone here has some tips (if you want any - sometimes it just takes poking at it).

I'm using VLC, which usually works okay for me. My first download was glitchy, so I redownloaded from another source and now episodes from some seasons are converting fine and episodes from other seasons are turning into audio only files! Since they're all from the same torrent and look fine as .mkv, I'm kind of at a loss.

I haven't used VLC in a while, so have no tips there. Here are a couple ideas:

Since MPEG Streamclip no longer works with my OS, I have transitioned to using Avidemux for clipping and converting clips to .mp4 for use in FCP. It's freeware.

I have gotten corrupted .mkv files before that I was unable to open. Maybe try a different source? [community profile] thevault might have individual episodes?
