Welcome to the monthly(-ish) chatter post.

There are a couple active exchanges going on, primariy equinox_exchange, so I know that can make it difficult to talk about current vids you might be making or polishing.

So.... how about past vid exchanges?

I have been gifted many amazing vids over the years, but I'll never forget the swell of emotion when I watched the Carrie Fisher vid I was gifted in the first Festivids after her death. Lump in the throat territory, and such an awesome vid -- A better son/daughter by eruthros.

I've only officially participated in one exchange (equinox 2018) and I got two lovely vids as a result! Sweetestdrain made me a lovely Pan's Labyrinth vid, and I got a Monsters, Inc. treat from dirty_diana. I keep telling myself that I won't do exchanges for a while because deadlines make me nervous, but then I see requests for pinch hitters and the idea of someone ending up without a vid makes me sad, so I'm doing my second pinch hit atm. Which is even worse as the deadlines are usually shorter, but so far people have liked my vids so it's worth it :)

I'm torn on the impact of a deadline. Without one, it can take me 2-3 YEARS to finish a vid. But, like you said, sometimes the deadline and the fact it's being made for someone else can make one anxious.

I thought I left this comment already so idk if it ended up somewhere random, lol. Anyway, Windows Update boned my vidding software, but I have a new fandom (aaahhh) and am about to try teach myself something new. Fingers crossed.

Exchanges are great because they make me finish stuff.

I had to change vidding programs last year due to an update, so I can relate.

New fandoms are always exciting!!!!
